The project:
|
|
Sparrowhawk & Heald were approached by Milton Road Junior
School to assist them in creating a school website. Through a
series of meetings and correspondence, Sparrowhawk & Heald
worked very closely with the school in order to fully understand
what they needed from this site. Before site development began,
the content, structure and look and feel were carefully planned
in conjunction with staff from the school, in order to make sure
the final site met their needs and expectations.
After much discussion, it was decided that the site should be
simple, easy to navigate, colourful, friendly and welcoming. It
should also contain much of the information frequently requested
of the admin staff. In addition there was a desire for the site
to be a living thing and reflect many of the projects going on
within the school.
Once Sparrowhawk and Heald had identified these needs they were
able to design the site structure and style, and to coordinate
the collection and production of content by the school, including
the prospectus, children's work and audio and video clips. All
content was edited by Sparrowhawk & Heald, and the site was
built in-house by S&H web developers.

Outcomes:
|
|
After receiving feedback from the staff, the site was launched
in 2001 in assembly by members of the S&H team and the Headteacher.
The school website was well received, and is still thriving -
used daily by teachers, parents and students. Sparrowhawk and
Heald has maintained a close relationship with the school, and
currently updates the site on a termly basis. However, the school
is I the process of training staff to take responsibility for
the maintenance and updating of the site.
"You offered to help in the classroom
with ICT and were able to convey to the school, in a very positive,
reassuring and non-threatening way, that you have expertise which
the school doesn't have." Sue Romero, Headteacher - Milton
Road Junior School
